Having played all 4 games, so far Mighty Gunvolt Burst is my favorite, followed by the 2 Azure Striker Gunvolt games.

You can wall jump, and have full access to GV's septima (the powers in the Gunvolt universe), and a lot more skills than Mighty Gunvolt Burst. The other 2 gunvolt games have better graphics, you only play in universe characters (GV and I can't remember the guy's name in 2), you get different types of shot but not much customization. You also get rewarded for killing enemies standing near them (instead of dashing through them like in MN9), but it seems to just increase your clear rank of the stage. Also, instead of acquiring sub-weapons like in Megaman, you get weapon upgrades and elements that you can apply to your weapon, with Beck having the most options. 9 universe, but with the Mighty Gunvolt style play. In Mighty Gunvolt Burst, until DLC comes out, you have just GV and Beck, but you're fighting enemies mostly from the Mighty No. 9, they accomplish it pretty well, with their own nuances in Mighty gunvolt there are 3 characters that play differently, the closest one to megaman 3+ would be Beck( yes that Beck), the closest one to megaman 1-2 would be Gunvolt, then there is Ekoro, who can take control over enemies for a certain amount of time(i think its timed). Might Gunvolt and Mighty Gunvolt burst were designed with the original megaman feel in mind. A better Mega Man game than Beck will ever get with Mighty No 9.

Bullet customization is the tits, still new characters being put out for it with an ultra-fair DLC scheme ("buy" it for free in the first two weeks, anyone who misses the window pays $2 for bonus character) that so far look to play differently. To be fair, it was meant as more of a bonus than a fully fleshed game.
